Nebraska Brewing Company

Traveled up the road to Papillion, Nebraska to visit the Nebraska Brewing Company. We have wanted to visit this restaurant for some time now. The restaurant looked like a typical brewpub, flat screen TV’s in the bar, concrete floors, and the brew tanks visible.
We ordered the corn dog meal for our two girls, which were actually turkey dogs, different but healthy. My husband ordered their gourmet mac and cheese, which was made with their Infinite Wit beer and topped with Bread Crumbs and I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich.
The dinner started off with a complementary basket of their homemade potato chips, which were good. When the server brought out our food, he brought me a chicken philly instead. He immediately took it back to bring out the buffalo chicken sandwich that I originally ordered.
While waiting I was able to sample the other food ordered by the table. The turkey corndogs were good but I was not a fan of the mac and cheese. It seemed to be a little heavy on the beer taste, which seemed a little stout and overpowering for the mac and cheese. Once my sandwich arrived I was a little disappointed by the presentation. It was a really small hamburger bun with an oversized flattened piece of breaded chicken and the sauce on top. The sauce had an overpowering taste that I couldn’t put my finger on, it also seemed really think and just sat on the sandwich.
The service was average, atmosphere average and the food below average. Probably won’t be making our way back to the Nebraska Brewing Company.
On other note, we did not try any of the beers that they brew, so maybe they would of made it worthwhile!

Great service…

We recently visited Red Robin to celebrate my daughter’s birthday, since it is her favorite restaurant, and had a wonderful experience. The restaurant was packed and we waited about 20 minutes, when we sat down we were greeted right away by our server Chad. He asked us how our day was, and when we asked back his response was “Great, we are busy, it is beautiful outside and I have to say it is a pretty good day!” We were really thrown back by this. Usually you get the response of “Okay, we are really busy” and they hate the fact that they are there.
We had two coupons from their birthday club, one for a free shake and one for a free burger. He honored both of them without hesitation. He split the shake up between both of my daughters and brought out fries before our meal as an “appetizer”. Our food came out hot, quickly and was very good. Once we were done eating, he made sure to bring out a sundae, balloons and the crew to sing the birthday song. I know that is seems like this is normal protocol for this restaurant but he really went above and beyond to make sure that everything was perfect. It was one of the best customer service experiences that we have endured in months. Thanks Chad and Red Robin for a fantastic lunch!

Car Buying in Lincoln

I normally don’t post entries outside of restaurants, but I have to rant about a recent experience at a Lincoln car dealer.  We own a small business and lease a car in my wife’s name.  The lease is up in May and we have started the process of replacing it.  We are open to leasing again or buying new if the terms are right.

To make a long story short, we wasted hours of our time trying to get any sort of offer.  Our terms were, please pay off our existing lease and we told them what we could afford to pay each month.  Seems pretty simple.  Well the first offer wasn’t even close.  We would have had to write a check for 2,000 AND it was over $100 more than we said we could afford.  I said thanks and got up to leave.  The salesman asked me where I was going.  I told him home…But apparently this wasn’t their FINAL offer.  Anyway after several rounds of bullshit, that included me getting upset over them hiding my keys, they slid this across the desk to me.  Really, this is how they expect people to make a purchase of fifteen thousand dollars or more.  Something that looks like my 7 year old wrote up with a marker.  Plus it was still more than we said we could afford to pay.

We’ve driven Saturn’s for over a decade for this reason.  Think what you will about the brand or their current fate, but I never signed anything written in crayon there.  The best part (and I didn’t get a photo of this) was my wife saw a no haggle banner hanging in this dealership!!  Thanks for listening to my rant!

Fat Pats and Neros Update

We saw several people going up to the door and then turned away.  There was a sign that said the restaurant will reopen under new ownership on November 12, 2009.

We’ll have to give you an update once they open again.
