Best of Lincoln,
Downtown Lincoln
I’ve found one of the best lunch deals in Downtown Lincoln. I can’t speak for the other locations, but at the Community Blood Bank downtown, if you book your appointment over lunch you get to eat for free. So far it’s been Danny’s Downtown Deli or Noodles and Company each time I’ve been.
I hate needles and I got a little dizzy the first time I donated, but the staff there is AWESOME and knew exactly how to make be feel better. They treated me great and I’ve been back every 8 weeks since.
Check it out and get your Free lunch while giving to a great cause.

Thanks to the crew over at Lincolnite for blogging about this DN article. I too remember George’s and Knickerbockers for cheap taco’s. I need to hit this up again.

When I worked at the State office building, I went to Duggan’s (440 SOUTH 11TH STREET) about once a month. If you’ve never been there, the food inside does not match the atmosphere in any way, shape or form.
A group of us headed out for lunch and I’m glad this came up as the destination. Although it’s been a few years, their menu still impresses me. Sophisticated pasta dishes, unique bar food (deep fried pickles) and homemade soups and specials.
I opted for the Black and Blue Burger, after really wanting the homemade potato and noodle soup. I wasn’t disappointed with my decision. I wasn’t asked so I can’t complain but the only thing I would have done is asked for my burger well done. I’ve stated it in the blog before, but I love my steaks medium-rare, but I have got to char a burger.
Tons of side items and a no nonsence staff that never let our table of 6 go without. I do with they still had the tortellini on the menu, but you will find something here.

N.A.M.R. – This is my new Lincoln acronym. What does it stand for? NOT ANOTHER MEXICAN RESTAURANT.
I was driving by 13th and O street tonight and saw two people painting a Mexican themed design on the window of the old Holyland Cuisine.
Let me just say, I love Mexican food. It’s in my top 3 for sure. But I’m wondering how many Mexican restaurants we need in this town? I’m actually wondering if there is a limit on the number of permits that can be issued? I don’t even know the name of this place or how good the food is, but I’m sick of all of them.
On a related note, the ground is clear up on my side of town for Mazatlan 2. This will be across the street from Carlos O’Kelly’s on 27th and Superior. Maybe a DeLeon’s can find another location in the same block.
Again…NAMR!!!!!!
