I hate to do this to one of my favorite places (let alone a favorite BBQ place), but our latest experience at Parkers Rib Ranch was anything but a favorite. We went in for an early dinner after visiting some friends that had a new set of twins. It was about 4:30pm and we were literally the only people in the place. It took the hostess 5 minutes to figure out where to seat us. Our waitress kept calling our two daughters ‘bud’ and talked us into a crappy beer special. Normally $4 isn’t bad for a Fat Tire, that is if it’s a 16oz draw!!!! Not a single bottle!!!
I decided to split the sampler with my youngest. The wings were temperature cold and must have been off the smallest chicken ever hatched. The rib tips where also cold and even for rib tips, effectively meatless. I did enjoy the catfish and so the meal was not a total loss.
My wife had a chicken sandwich which had next to no meat on it. She left hungry and we both left disappointed.
We normally love the food at Parker’s and love even more that they are local. I’ll probably give it one more chance, but as a Kansas City Certified BBQ judge, this was not the way to get me back.
